Computing for SKA Colloquium 9 to 10 February 2017

MP the Hon Paul Goldsmith addresses C4SKA Colloquium

Our annual Colloquium brings together industry and academics working on the design of computer systems for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) - the mega science project of the 21st century to build the world’s largest and most sensitive radio telescope.  Co-hosted by SECMS’s Institute for Radio Astronomy and Space Research and the High Performance Computing Research Lab, the event attracted forty participants.  The presentations revealed the very significant progress made with the design phase and solutions to meet the unprecedented computing demands from SKA and similar industries over the next ten years.

The Hon Paul Goldsmith attended and gave a positive Ministerial address on the Friday morning.  There is anticipation that MBIE will continue to be supportive of AUT and all partners involved in the NZ SKA Alliance.
